MRI FOR BATHURST

AN MRI service is set to be added to the facilities at the Bathurst Hospital.

 

Member for Bathurst Paul Toole announced today the NSW Government would provide funding to the Bathurst Health Service to get the new MRI up and running.

 

“This will allow more local residents to receive potentially life-saving diagnosis and treatment at Bathurst Hospital,” Mr Toole said.

 

MRI - or magnetic resonance imaging – uses a powerful magnetic field to create detailed images of bones and soft tissue such as muscles.

OBERON FITNESS CENTRE OFFICIALLY OPEN

Oberon Fitness Centre is up and running with residents lining up to become members.

Since opening for business in August, more than 210 people have signed up for a membership at the facility

Member for Bathurst Paul Toole was joined by Deputy Mayor Mark Kellam, staff from The Y, and Member for Calare Andrew Gee in Oberon to cut the ribbon.

The centre is a result of an investment of $500,000 by the NSW Government and is now set to improve the quality of life of local Oberon residents.

KPMG REVIEW SHEDS LIGHT ON CHARLES STURT’S FUTURE

The release of the much-anticipated independent review by KPMG on the financial position of Charles Sturt University has been welcomed by Member for Bathurst Paul Toole.

Mr Toole said he was satisfied Charles Sturt was heading in the right direction and now getting back on track to financial stability after he questioned its operations earlier this year.

This included an ultimatum that the Bathurst campus would not be downgraded and assurances that marquee courses such as nursing, paramedics, engineering, teaching and journalism would be retained.

MORE UPGRADES FOR THE KANDOS MUSEUM

The impact of COVD-19 might have had an impact on the number of visitors to the Kandos Museum, but the lull in business has allowed for more upgrades to be completed.

When pandemic restrictions start to ease and life starts to resume to some sort of normality, the museum will now be able to offer guests hospitality in their brand new coffee shop.

Member for Bathurst Paul Toole today announced a Community Building Partnership grant of $16,000 for the addition.
