CAN WE DO IT? YES WE CAN!

Member for Bathurst Paul Toole has announced community groups and keen recyclers will be able to swap their cans and bottles for cold, hard cash from 1 July 2017, with legislation for the NSW Government’s landmark 10-cent Container Deposit Scheme passing through Parliament late last week.

The Waste and Resource Recovery Amendment (Container Deposit Scheme) Act 2016 paves the way for a cost-effective, best-practice scheme that will benefit both the community and the environment.

TAKING ACTION TO REDUCE RATES OF RURAL CRIME

Member for Bathurst Paul Toole is encouraging the local community to report instances of rural crime to the Police as the NSW Government kicks off Rural Crime Week.

Mr Toole  said rural crime is having a having a significant impact of farming families and communities from losing valuable stock, fuel, plant, equipment and break and enters.

 “The introduction of a Deputy Commissioner for Regional NSW will mean that the emerging crime trends in regional NSW, which differ so much to those in our cities, are recognised and properly addressed.”

MAKING IT EASIER TO BUILD TERRACE HOMES

Member for Bathurst Paul Toole has welcomed a new design guide which will help make it easier to build well-designed low rise, medium density homes across NSW, following the release of a draft Medium Density Design Guide by the NSW Government.

The majority of homes currently under construction in NSW are freestanding houses and apartments, however a third of homeowners surveyed by the Department of Planning said they would consider downsizing to terraces – preferences which are being driven by changing lifestyles and demographics.

$337 MILLION FOR CLEANER COMMUNITIES

Member for Bathurst Paul Toole has welcomed the NSW Government’s decision to invest $337 million over four years from 2017-18 for state-wide litter reduction and waste management projects as part of the Waste Less, Recycle More initiative.

“This investment means the NSW Government can continue tackling litter, combating illegal dumping and rogue waste operators, facilitating the development of waste and recycling infrastructure and supporting councils.
