Local Volunteers Win Awards

Member for Bathurst Paul Toole MP today congratulated the winners of the Office of Sport’s Western Region Sporting Spirit Volunteer Awards.

Mr Toole said,” Everyone is a winner when it comes to volunteering, especially our communities, because without volunteers we couldn’t play sport. It is wonderful to have the opportunity to recognise the hard work and dedication of our region’s sport volunteers recognised  during last week’s National Volunteers Week.”

NSW Government Supports Local Youth Music Event

A local youth group in the Bathurst Electorate has been awarded $2,500 in NSW Government funding towards their YJam Winter and YJam Summer music event.

Member for Bathurst Paul Toole said the Bathurst Regional Youth Council had been successful in the NSW Government’s Indent Event Development Grants.

“This funding injection means our young musicians have an opportunity to produce original works for the community to enjoy,” Mr Toole said.

$8 Million Boost for Community Preschools

Member for Bathurst Paul Toole MP today announced families across NSW will benefit from an $8 million funding injection for capital works leading to 500 additional preschool places in areas of high need.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for preschool providers in the Bathurst Electorate to expand their current services to offer more places resulting in more opportunities for NSW children to receive a quality preschool education,” said Mr Toole.

Time to check your winter appliances

Member for Bathurst Paul Toole MP today joined Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) firefighters to urge the community to replace their smoke alarms on the 10th anniversary since smoke alarms became compulsory in all homes.

Mr Toole said smoke alarms need to be replaced at least every 10 years because of dust, humidity and age, so many alarms are now reaching their ‘best before’ date.

In NSW, all dwellings where people sleep must have at least one working smoke alarm per level. FRNSW recommends having smoke alarms installed in all bedrooms for maximum protection.
