LOCALS TO FILL THE MEDICAL SUPPLY CHAIN

The NSW Government is calling on manufacturers around the State to help fill gaps in the global supply of medical equipment and hygiene products, redeploying spare capacity to save lives and jobs.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Minister for Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney Stuart Ayres today launched a portal for companies to offer to build parts or supply eight urgently needed items during the COVID-19 crisis.

FASTER PAYMENTS TO INJECT $750 MILLION INTO NSW ECONOMY IN THE NEXT WEEK

The NSW Government is fast-tracking the payment of suppliers and contractors to help businesses maintain their cash flow during these unprecedented times.

NSW Treasury will support the immediate payment of all current suppliers in advance of the contracted payment terms as part of its Faster Payments scheme releasing $750 million into the NSW economy in the next week.

Suppliers to benefit will include a range of small to medium businesses from catering and cleaning companies, medical supply companies, local regional suppliers and community service groups.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SUPPORT DURING COVID-19 CRISIS

Police and domestic violence frontline services remain at the ready to support victims and their families as the state continues to respond to the coronavirus threat.

Attorney General and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence Mark Speakman said survivors could be confident that support services and the NSW Police Force are prepared and ready to respond if they need help.

“As citizens cooperate with social distancing directions, self-isolation and quarantine, there is an associated risk that domestic and family violence will increase,” Mr Speakman said.

PLEASE CANCEL TRAVEL TO REGIONAL NSW

Non-essential travel to regional NSW towns and remote communities must be cancelled and Easter holidaymakers should indefinitely postpone their visits, in line with the nationwide effort to slow the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW John Barilaro said National Cabinet has clearly asked everyone to stay at home unless they are shopping for essentials, are receiving medical care, are undertaking daily exercise or are attending work or school.
