SARAH BOORER AND ALISON SHURMER ARE 2019 HIDDEN TREASURES

Bathurst MP Paul Toole has today announced the community volunteers acknowledged on the 2019 Hidden Treasures Honour Roll.

This year’s Honour Role recognises 78 women for their valuable volunteer roles and the outstanding contribution they provide to local communities across NSW.

 

The local women listed on the Honour Roll include Sarah Boorer and Alison Shurmer who were nominated by Terisa Ashworth from the Bathurst Seymour Centre for their role in helping that organisation.

NATIONALS INTRODUCE HISTORIC LEGISLATION TO FAST TRACK DAMS ACROSS REGIONAL NSW

Member for Bathurst, Paul Toole MP has welcomed today’s announcement that the NSW Government will introduce historic legislation to facilitate declared emergency drought works and fast track the construction of new dams across drought-stricken regional NSW. 

Mr Toole said this legislation would truncate processes to fast track water projects in order to secure short-term water supply. In addition, three new dams will be given critical state significant infrastructure status.

DROUGHT FUNDING TO ASSIST AWARD WINNING MILLTHORPE PRE SCHOOL

Preschools and Long Day Care services around Bathurst will receive a much-needed funding boost, thanks to the NSW Government’s Preschool Drought Relief program.

Paul Toole MP said seven centres around Bathurst will be eligible to submit an ‘expression of interest’ to receive additional drought relief funding, which can be used to reduce fees, implement transport initiatives, staff training and environmental adjustments.

BUILDING FLOOD MITIGATION IN THE LITHGOW AREA

The NSW Government has provided a boost to disaster resilience, today announcing a $1.88 million funding injection to the Floodplain Grants Scheme, including $60,000 for flood mitigation works in the Lithgow area.
Bathurst MP Paul Toole said Lithgow City Council will receive $60,000 for a Lithgow floodplain risk management study and plan around the Farmer’s Creek and Marrangaroo Creek catchments.
