BATHURST’S HISTORIC COBB & CO COACH HERITAGE LISTED

A rare surviving and beautifully restored 1860s Cobb & Co Coach in Bathurst has been listed on the State Heritage Register, in recognition of its great historical significance in NSW.

As romanticised by Australian poet Henry Lawson in ‘The Lights of Cobb & Co’ (1897), the story of the Cobb & Co mail and passenger transportation company is etched in the colonial history of Australia.

Member for Bathurst Paul Toole said the coach was a reminder of Bathurst’s rich pioneering history and was a great asset to have on display for both visitors and locals alike.

O’CONNELL RECREATION GROUND: GREEN LIGHT FOR STAGE ONE

Oberon Council has obtained funding from the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund (SCCF) to kick start the establishment of a recreation ground at O’Connell.

Bathurst MP Paul Toole today announced a grant of $349,579 to drive stage one of the project.

“Oberon Council recently purchased a considerable parcel of land in the village for the purpose of developing a recreation ground,” Mr Toole said.

“This is a facility that would also be a great addition for the local community as well as the students who attend the nearby O’Connell Primary School.

NEW AWNING FOR WALLERAWANG COMMUNITY AND SPORTS CLUB THANKS TO NSW GOVERNMENT FUNDING

UPGRADES at the Wallerawang Community and Sports Club are continuing thanks to the backing of local MP Paul Toole and the NSW Government.

 

Bathurst MP Paul Toole today announced he has secured funding of $30,000 for the club to construct an awning on the front verandah to provide shelter outside the new function and eatery section.

LUCHETTI SPORTSGROUND GETS ANOTHER BOOST

Member for Bathurst Paul Toole has announced more funding for Lithgow’s Tony Luchetti Sports Ground, which will benefit from a further $181,280 in funding as part of the NSW Government Showground Stimulus program.

Mr Toole said Lithgow City Council would receive funding to upgrade and improve the use and condition of their infrastructure, and support jobs in the local economy.

“When COVID-19 hit it forced the postponement or cancellation of agricultural shows and many activities that showgrounds rely on for their income,” Mr Toole said.
