Member for Bathurst Paul Toole has been travelling across the electorate announcing funding to assist with extensive weed control of popular public reserves.

The funding was included in the latest round of the NSW Government’s Public Reserve Management Fund (PRMF) program and totals just over $113,000.

Mr Toole said public reserves are an important community asset and provide a great place for local gatherings and generating visitation through tourism.

“A well-maintained, safe and tidy place for the community is the pride of many communities across regional NSW and I congratulate all of the Reserve Trusts on the terrific job they do managing these sites.”

The following sites were successful in this year’s funding:

Sunny Corner Historic Reserve Trust

Wattle Flat Heritage Lands Trust

Wisemans Creek Reserve

Portland Common

Parish Reserve for Castleton and Roxburgh

Orange Reserve

Cullen Bullen and Roxburgh

Hassans Wall Reserve

Macquarie Turon Regional parklands

Mr Toole said $15 million has been allocated to projects across the state in the 2017-18 round of PRMF.

“State-owned public reserves play an important role in regional communities and the NSW Government is committed to ensuring these Crown reserves continue to provide social and economic benefits to the people of NSW.

“For the Trusts managing the State’s Crown reserves, the PRMF program provides important financial support needed to maintain these highly valued public assets.”

Over the last six years the PRMF program has provided $94 million for Crown reserve trusts.
