Bathurst MP Paul Toole’s drive to help improve sporting facilities across his electorate continued today.
Mr Toole visited the Bathurst Basketball Stadium to meet with manager Andrew James and announce the venue would receive major upgrades thanks to a NSW Government grant of more than $147,000.
“The stadium is in high demand, with a strong basketball competition and regularly hosts regional sports tournaments and development programs,” he said.
Mr Toole said the funding would be used to complete a number of initiatives to make the stadium more user friendly.
“Given the wide ranging seasonal temperature fluctuations in Bathurst, the café and foyer area can be freezing cold in winter or extremely hot in summer and this is far from ideal for players, spectators and visitors to the stadium.
“The courts, scoreboards and backboards will be upgraded, but the project will also see temperature controlled units installed in the foyer and café area, doors installed to seal this area to save energy and keep the temperature at a constant comfort level,” he said. “There will also be an upgrade to the public amenities.”
