BLAYNEY SHIRE COUNCIL’S $300,000 FOR UPGRADES TO BURNT YARDS ROAD

 NSW Government providing grants of up to $300,000 towards costs of maintenance and improvements on council roads, eg shoulder repairs, road surface repairs and signage

 Recently completed projects which improve freight access for drought relief can be considered

 Improvements will be made to freight links that provide relief to other parts of the local road network

Councils are receiving much needed funds to support the increased movement of stock, feed and water as part of the drought relief.

Bathurst MP Paul Toole said the government has been working in partnership with Local Government NSW to evaluate submissions received by local councils across the state.

"Eligible councils could apply for up to $300,000 to help them with road maintenance and improvements to accommodate increased freight movements," Mr Toole said.

"As a result I am pleased that we have provided $300,000 to Blayney Shire Council to improve Burnt Yards Road at Mandurama and Errowanbang.

"These improvements will contribute to heavy vehicle access, in support of the drought relief task. Burnt Yards Road at Mandurama is an approved B-Double route and had experienced significant pavement failure due to the increase in heavy traffic which was exacerbated by the ongoing drought conditions,

"A total of 8.8km on this important freight link road is being upgraded thanks to this funding."
