After 142 years, Bathurst MP Paul Toole says it’s time for Carcoar Showground to get a facelift.
Mr Toole said the much-needed running repairs and maintenance to the showground can be made thanks to a grant of $72,169 from the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund (SCCF).
“While show day rolls around once a year in the last weekend in October, the dedicated team from the Carcoar Pastoral, Agricultural and Horticultural Society is committed to making sure the venue provides a great community experience all year round for locals and visitors alike,” he said.
“These works will help ensure this great little venue remains for generations to come.”
In recent years Mr Toole said the NSW Government has also provided $14,500 to carry out maintenance work on the showground pavilion.
“Those urgent works included replacing the guttering, replacing and repainting the facia boards and trims to the gables at either end of the pavilion as well as installing new windows to replace the broken ones,” he said.
Mr Toole met with Carcoar PA & H officials Mark Richardson, Sally Green, Ed Hogan and Joanna Tait last week to tell them the good news.
“I am sure everyone in the local community will appreciate the improvements that are going to be made to what is one of the most picturesque little showgrounds in NSW,’ Mr Toole said.
