SAVING on power bills is the aim of the latest initiative of the Oberon Show Society.

Thanks to NSW Government Community Building Partnership (CBP) funding of $11,000, solar panels have been installed on the roof of the “Oberon Centenary of Federation Pavilion – 2001”.

Member for Bathurst Paul Toole has been a great supported of the local show society and said its dedicated committee and band of volunteers always gave 100 per cent with the attitude of “the show must go on”.

“The aim of putting solar power on the roof of the main pavilion will not only save on energy costs, it will also help alleviate the drain on power that causes overloads during big events such as the annual show and Australia Day celebrations,” Mr Toole said.

The NSW Community Building Partnership program awards grants for community infrastructure projects.

These are aimed at initiatives that deliver positive social, environmental and recreational outcomes while also promoting community participation, inclusion and cohesion.
