Bathurst MP Paul Toole has served up an ace for Eglinton District Tennis Club by announcing funding for a new clubhouse.

Mr Toole said the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund (SCCF) would back the new building with a grant of $159,882.

“The Eglinton District Tennis Club has six floodlit courts, four mini courts and a toilet block,” he said.

“However, its clubhouse is pretty much no more than a glorified tin shed that floods when there is heavy rain.

“This funding will allow the club to get rid of this shed and replace it with a clubhouse more in keeping with the size of the club and its expected growth into the future.”

Mr Toole said sport plays an important role in the community and tennis is a great way to keep fit as well as bringing people together socially.

“Whilst we are limited with activities during Covid-19, this gives the club a great opportunity to get on with delivery of the project,” Mr Toole said.

“As Eglinton continues to grow and its population increases, it’s critical to have the appropriate infrastructure in place to meet the needs of these residents.

“A new clubhouse for the local tennis club meets these requirements and I am sure the new facility will be well patronised once it’s completed.”
