Value Your Mind

2nd October 2015

Paul Toole Member for Bathurst is encouraging the Community to take the time to think about their mental health, and to seek help if needed. October is Mental Health Month and the theme for this year, ‘Value Your Mind’, aims to encourage people to prioritise their own mental health and wellbeing just as much as they would to maintain their physical and social health. Mr Toole said,” So many Australians are effected by mental illness, in fact approximately 1 in 5 Australians every year. Creating awareness and understanding of the importance mental health plays in our daily lives will help break down the stigma and discrimination that people with mental illness face every day.” “We all have busy lives but we never stop to take the time to consider our own mental health and wellbeing and Mental Health Month provides the perfect opportunity for people to reach out to one another and talk about mental health.” Mr Toole said. “Across the electorate there will be a number of Mental Health Month events being held and to find out more please visit . “During this month make sure that you take the time to reflect on your own mental health including your state of mind and your ability to cope with the everyday things. Start with yourself and then if you or someone you know needs help reach out to organisations such as Headspace and Lifeline.” Mr Toole said.
